Dr. Cochell was born and grew up in Salem! She first became interested in dentistry in high school. After attending Oregon State University for her undergraduate degree, she pursued her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from OHSU in Portland. She also attended the Synergy Training Program where she learned about planning and restoring dental implants. In addition to that, she did hands-on group studies and lectures with Capitol Study Group and Marion Polk Dental Society.
As of today, Dr. Cochell has been serving patients for nearly two decades. She is currently a proud member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, and Seattle Study Club. Her favorite part of her job is sharing her knowledge with her patients, helping them achieve healthier, happier smiles.
When she isn’t busy at the dental office, Dr. Cochell is passionate about volunteering. She has worked with several worthwhile organizations, including Medical Teams International and the local Boys & Girls Club. Some of her hobbies include hiking, camping, and playing pickleball!
My family and I moved to Salem in early 2020. We were recommended to Cochell Family Dentistry by our family dentist in Gresham and we couldn’t be happier. My little ones are comfortable seeing the dentist and hygienist. They get so excited about going and getting their toothbrush kits and picking from the prize box after their appointment.

Although the American Dental Association recommends having a routine checkup and cleaning with your dentist every six months, only an estimated 65% of adults in the United States report seeing their provider in the past year. If it’s been a while since your last visit and you’re on the market for a new provider, it’s natural to wonder how to get started finding one.
A quick internet search on your chosen browser can provide a list of results near South Central, but it can be hard to sift through them to find the right dentist to meet your needs. It might help to take some time to first identify what matters most to you. Do you need someone in-network with your insurance, or who offers particular services you anticipate needing? Asking and answering these types of inquiries can help you narrow your search based on your unique circumstances.
Brushing and flossing twice daily is a great way to prevent potential emergencies, but there’s no guarantee that one won’t happen at some point anyway. When it comes to dental emergencies, it’s usually best to be seen as soon as possible to increase the likelihood of a positive outcome.
That means you should seek a dentist who offers same-day appointments for urgent situations. It’s also wise to seek a provider that offers a variety of services, so they’re sure to have solutions no matter what your situation. At Cochell Family Dentistry near South Central, we reserve time so that we can fit you in right away, so you don’t have to wait for relief. We also offer anxiety reduction medications like nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and other advanced technologies to help relieve any associated aches.
Dental implants are the only replacement teeth that involves an invasive procedure, so in many cases, it’s better to seek an expert who’s qualified to place them, like a periodontist, prosthodontist, or oral surgeon. However, many general dentists also undergo extensive training to be qualified to perform the procedure and restore your tooth in the office, so you don’t have to seek additional outside providers.
For example, Dr. Cochell graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine advanced degree from the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. She then completed the Synergy Training Program, which included extensive education in planning and restoring single or multiple dental implants. She’s happy to provide every step of the implant process from consultation to surgery to placing your finished prosthetic.
Our team near South Central understands that dental expenses can add up quickly, but we believe that everyone deserves access to top-quality care despite their finances. If you’re concerned you won’t be able to pay for services, we’ve got your back! We are in-network with many major dental insurance providers, though we also gladly accept out-of-network patients. If you’re unsure what benefits might apply, feel free to ask our friendly office staff for assistance. They’re familiar with many different policies and can help you maximize your benefits.
For uninsured patients, we also offer flexible financial packages through CareCredit. If your application is approved, you can divvy your total invoice into more manageable installments that are easier on your budget.
